Industrial Placement in Magnet Power Supplies

The Magnet Power Supplies (MPS) Group at UK Research and Innovation is seeking an Industrial Placement student to contribute to the development of design capability for pulsed power supplies. This is a unique opportunity to work on a challenging project that involves gathering requirements, modelling and simulating power supply sub-systems, prototyping and testing power supplies, and reporting results.
Key Responsibilities- Gather requirements and specifications for pulsed power supplies
- Model and simulate power supply sub-systems using relevant software
- Prototype and test power supplies to ensure they meet specifications
- Report results and provide recommendations for improvement
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025
- Demonstrate an understanding of electrical/electronic circuits
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, innovative, logical approach to problem solving, organised, reliable and collaborative
- Able to communicate to both a technical and non-technical audience
- Evidence of practical experience through university labs
- Evidence of experience using CAD and/or ECAD software
