About the Role

GKN Aerospace is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our Materials & Processes team in East Cowes. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in implementing and deploying materials and process methods, ensuring high process capability and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the development and implementation of materials and process solutions from concept to production.
  2. Deploy processes with a high degree of capability, utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
  3. Provide technical support for manufacturing development and integration for production.
  4. Resolve issues related to vendor quality.
  5. Offer specialist knowledge to production activities to improve efficiency, product quality, and reduce non-conforming parts.
  6. Monitor production by test and audit, ensuring robust process selection, implementation, and control.
  7. Support the delivery and deployment of a robust, repeatable, and reliable manufacturing process that meets all requirements.
Requirements

Suitable candidates should possess:

  1. A minimum HNC (or ONC plus relevant workplace-based experience) in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  2. A strong understanding of materials and processing, preferably with experience of thermal processing of composites.
  3. Experience of continuous improvement and lean management.
  4. Proactive approach to new developments of expertise required.
  5. Good interpersonal skills with effective team working.
  6. Proven ability to work and deliver under own initiative.
  7. Ability to manage and coordinate internal/external customer requirements.
  8. Achieving delivery to time, cost, and quality.
  9. PC literate – MS office programs, particularly Excel.
  10. Self-motivated, resourceful, strong-minded, and committed.
  11. Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
  12. Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
