About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in delivering robust and capable manufacturing process technology to operational and development programs. This will involve utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills to enable and deliver zero-defect projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
- Develop manufacturing process solutions to complex problems.
- Implement production planning from original concept through to production.
- Design processes to a high level of process capability using the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
- Accountable for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition, and implementation.
- Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, customers, and suppliers.
- Deliver technical support for manufacturing process development and integration for production.
- Utilize root cause analysis, preventative, and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
- Maintain positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as coworkers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 5+ years of manufacturing engineering or other relevant manufacturing experience.
- 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder/Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous GKN experience.
- Fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly experience.
- Experience with NX.
- Aerospace experience.
- Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000.
- Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques.
- Project/Program Management.
- Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend blueprints, ASME Y14.5.
- Ability to use test equipment and inspection equipment.
- CAD and/or various computer systems, NX preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Fluent in English language, both written and spoken.
