Domestic Abuse Support Specialist

As a key member of our team, you will provide essential support to survivors of domestic abuse in hospitals and health settings across East Kent. Your expertise will help us deliver holistic, survivor-centred support, and empower women and children to rebuild their lives.
Job Description- You will work closely with hospital staff, safeguarding departments, and other services to advocate for survivors and ensure they receive the necessary support.
- You will conduct needs assessments, using risk assessment tools like DASH, to identify individual requirements and develop effective safety and support plans.
- Your role will involve training professionals on recognising domestic abuse and responding appropriately, promoting positive outcomes and fostering a culture of respect and empathy within the healthcare sector.
- Deliver high-quality advocacy services to survivors of domestic abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being are prioritised at all times.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address the complex needs of survivors, including those with mental health issues, substance misuse, or complex care needs.
- Promote the HIDVA service, building relationships with hospital staff, safeguarding teams, and clinicians to raise awareness of domestic abuse and its effects.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse risk assessment tools, such as DASH, and the MARAC process is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to network effectively with various stakeholders.
The salary for this position is estimated to be between £25,845 - £30,790 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for professional development and training.
