Procurement Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to join our team at The Business Connection Group. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic procurement plans to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of goods and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve optimal cost and quality results.
  • Manage the purchase of direct and indirect materials, negotiating terms of business relationships with suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and principles of the integrated management system.
  • Collaborate with Innovation and Engineering to ensure channels of supply are at the lowest total cost.
  • Manage the supply base and ensure alignment with business strategy.
  • Produce an annual Purchasing Plan.
  • Manage the purchase of direct and indirect materials, negotiating the terms of business relationship.
  • Achieve the lowest cost of acquisition across multiple suppliers, categories of spend, and location.
  • Ensure that Terms and Conditions of Purchase are used in all contracts for supply and that these are updated to reflect legal and group requirements.
  • Establish Contracts of Supply and Pricing Agreements where applicable for significant suppliers.
  • Maintain all relevant cost and lead time information required for all major business processes.
  • Direct the sourcing and evaluation of new suppliers where required, and as part of a continuous improvement philosophy.
  • Provide the Operations Director with performance reports when required and maintain departmental metrics.
  • Attend all company meetings requiring senior purchasing input within all categories of spend.
  • Chair Key Supplier Meetings where applicable and maintain this supplier development strategy.
  • Compile and communicate all monthly and quarterly KPIs to senior management.
  • Establish training and development needs for the wider procurement community.
  • Lead all key negotiations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years' experience within a purchasing environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Working with multiple suppliers and large number of products.
  • Working with large complex datasets.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and D365 ERP system.
  • Managing a team centered around problem solving and product availability.
  • Vendor negotiations.
  • Undertaking complex and substantial negotiations.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering, or an equivalent discipline desirable.
  • CIPS Certificate.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with stakeholders across the business.
  • Leverage group spends and achieve the lowest Total Acquisition Cost.
  • Develop and guide suppliers towards providing added value processes, products, and services.
  • Negotiate with A, B or C class suppliers, on your own or as part of a team.
  • Strong process analysis and improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of cost structures and management of business contracts.
  • Understanding and appreciation of internal controls required for operational and regulatory purposes.
