Cabinet Support Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cabinet Support Officer to join our dynamic and progressive London Local Authority. This pivotal role will provide policy, research, and administrative support to Cabinet Members, ensuring they can effectively deliver their priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Policy and Research Support: Provide high-quality briefing, research, and analysis to support Cabinet Members in making informed decisions.
  • Administrative Support: Manage a variety of administrative tasks, including diary management, email handling, and meeting coordination.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with service departments, senior leaders, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Casework and Inbox Management: Manage Cabinet Members' inboxes and diaries, handling casework, emails, and meetings efficiently.
  • Research and Briefing: Conduct research, draft briefings, and summarise information to ensure Cabinet Members are well-prepared.
  • Meeting Coordination: Ensure smooth coordination of Cabinet Member meetings, including agenda planning, minute-taking, action logging, and venue arrangements.

This is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Your role will be crucial in maintaining clear communication and effective operations within the Cabinet, ensuring the Council delivers its goals for a safer, stronger, and kinder borough.

Requirements:
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience providing high-quality briefing, diary management, and administrative support to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Minute-Taking and Action Tracking: Experience in minute-taking and action tracking for meetings.
  • Excellent Judgment: Excellent judgment, political awareness, and discretion.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Local Government Knowledge: Knowledge of local government structures and policy.
  • Highly Organised: Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment.
