About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Tara Professional Recruitment Ltd. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, assisting them with their learning and personal development.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), ensuring that students' needs are met effectively.
- Support students with a range of activities, including classroom tasks, social interactions, and sensory experiences, adapting support strategies as required.
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and confidence.
- Assist in the assessment and monitoring of students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reports.
- Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
- Support students during transitions between activities and locations, providing reassurance and guidance as needed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and external professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and access to resources.
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting individuals, inside or outside a school setting.
- A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- An understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required for this position.
