About the Role:

This is a long term, full time SEN TA role within a deaf unit at a primary school. The successful candidate will be working in the nursery in the morning and reception in the afternoon, supporting a group of deaf children. The ideal candidate will have experience or qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton, and be able to read non-verbal signs and signals from children. Some children have complex needs, so patience and understanding are essential. The role also involves providing intimate care for two children who are still in nappies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support deaf children in the nursery and reception classes
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton to communicate with children
  • Read non-verbal signs and signals from children
  • Provide intimate care for children who are still in nappies

Requirements:
  • Experience or qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton
  • Ability to read non-verbal signs and signals from children
  • Patience and understanding when working with children with complex needs

Working Arrangements:
  • Long term, full time position
  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm
  • Pay up to £120 per day through umbrella
