We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Direct Line Group. This exciting opportunity will involve developing and implementing our Health and Safety Strategy, Governance, and Culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating processes, procedures, and monitoring performance across the group.

The key purpose of this role is to learn about H&S Regulations and how they apply to a dynamic and fast-paced business like Direct Line Group. In this role, you will:

  • Undertake relevant H&S training and put the knowledge gained into practice.
  • Work to the criteria of the Level 3 Technician in Safety, Health, and Environment.
  • Attend H&S meetings and Committees and set agendas, take minutes, log, and track actions arising.
  • Participate in accident/incident and near-miss investigations as needed.
  • Participate in audit and inspection programs across the group.
  • Provide support in collating evidence and drafting accident, incident, and near-miss reports.
  • Create audit reports and management information to be used for Exec H&S Committee and Risk Management Board.
  • Support the implementation of the H&S module on the new CAFM Holistic business system.
  • Redesign and launch the H&S Pages on the Hub, create content for H&S Newsletters, and internal communication systems.
  • Support meetings with external providers of Occupational Health and EAP and collate data into usable management information for the business.

To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine interest in Health and Safety and a love for data. We are looking for a confident individual who can work independently when set a task, an outgoing individual with good listening and communication skills, a focused individual who enjoys working with data and on new systems, and a curious individual who wants to understand why people do what they do in a work setting.

To be eligible to apply for this apprenticeship, you will need to have 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English & Maths A*-C (9-4) which you will need to be able to evidence. Applicants also need to have lived in the UK for the last 3 years.
