About the Commercial Director Role

Premier Production Ltd. is seeking a seasoned Commercial Director to drive the company's strategic growth and expansion. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join a leading technical production company and contribute to its continued success.

As a key member of the senior management team, the Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies to support the company's growth ambitions. This will include identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building relationships with existing clients, and exploring cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a senior commercial role within the event industry, with strong technical expertise in lighting, video, and sound. They will be a strategic self-driven sales hunter who thrives on generating their own activity, rather than relying on high-volume inbound lead generation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a commercial strategy to drive business growth and expansion
  • Building and maintaining relationships with existing clients and identifying new business opportunities
  • Managing the sales cycle from lead to closing the sale, including quotation and follow-up
  • Working closely with the project management team to ensure sales opportunities are allocated and followed up in a timely manner
  • Mentoring and supporting the project management team to help them develop their sales skills
  • Attending industry and networking events to explore and capitalise on potential sales opportunities

The Commercial Director will be a key partner in the business, working closely with the MD to drive the company's growth and expansion. They will be an exceptional networker, skilled at building and maintaining robust relationships, and will have a strong understanding of the company's products and services.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Demonstrated success in a senior commercial role within the event industry, ideally complemented by strong technical expertise in lighting, video, and sound
  • Proven experience in achieving and surpassing revenue targets, with a strong track record of sales success
  • Experience in driving and managing the sales process from initial planning through to final closure
  • Exceptional networking abilities, skilled at building and maintaining robust relationships
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to use CRM, MS Office, and other technology as appropriate
