Job Summary:

The NEC Group is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Chef Apprentice to join our team at The NEC. As a Chef Apprentice, you will work closely with our experienced culinary team to develop your skills and knowledge in all areas of our kitchens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food to the highest possible quality, maintaining a high standard of specified work in accordance with senior chef's instructions.
  • Carry out daily and weekly procedures, including temperature checks, food labelling/dating, and storage.
  • Remove any hazards and make safe any defects in the kitchen or its equipment and report any problems to a senior chef.
  • Keep high standards of personal hygiene, clean uniform, and professionalism in the kitchen.
  • Assist with the acceptance and storage of deliveries and adhere to relevant company procedures.
  • Have an understanding of menu planning, the importance of good stock management, and how this enables the kitchen to meet gross profit.
  • Be familiar with the opening and closing procedures of the kitchen and carry them out as rotated.
  • Keep high standards of cleanliness on the section where employed, and assist in any job regarding hygiene or cleanliness asked for by a senior chef.
  • Be aware of and comply with statutory requirements regarding the workplace, such as health and safety, hygiene, fire prevention, employment law, etc.
  • Be fully aware of all hygiene control and chemicals used in the workplace.
