Job Title: Personal Injury File Handler Assistant

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive salary

Location: Glasgow, one day a week in the office

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-focused Personal Injury File Handler Assistant to join our team at Keoghs. As a Personal Injury File Handler Assistant, you will assist larger loss fee earners and partners by taking responsibility for elements of file handling, adhering to strategies, and undertaking tasks under the guidance of the lead File Handler.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Acknowledge instructions, initially liaise with clients, Court, and parties
  • Draft court documents
  • Fix dates for consultations/PTMs, liaise with counsel's clerks, expert witnesses, clients
  • Lodge appropriate documentation at Court and serve upon any third parties where applicable
  • Liaise with the Insured and witnesses with a view to drafting precognitions and issuing citations
  • Obtain additional information and/or documentation from the insurer client and/or third parties to progress the negotiations
  • Deal with CRU matters
  • Liaise with Keepers/opponents re suitable dates for motions, Proofs, etc to call
  • Enrol motions
  • Identify and input key dates
  • Review medical records/earnings records

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Previous File Handling experience is a must, ideally in Personal injury/Disease/Relevant Litigation experience
  • Experience in drafting court documents
  • We also welcome applications from Legal Secretaries (please note there will not be much typing involved in this role)
