We are proud to be working alongside a renowned Civil Engineering contractor, seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a prestigious project in Cumbria.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a company that values its staff and is committed to delivering high-profile projects in the region. As a Health and Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with OHSAS 18001 obligations, health and safety legislation, and minimum health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a positive health and safety culture, ensuring the company's commitment to OHSAS 18001 and health and safety legislation.
  • Support the monitoring of sites through proactive audit processes, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with the team to prepare and update construction phase health and safety plans, ensuring they are continually reviewed and improved.
  • Introduce initiatives to enhance health and safety standards, focusing on proactive management and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the business's success by supporting tenders and pre-qualification questionnaires, as designated by the Senior Safety Manager/Preconstruction Team.
  • Establish effective relationships with the supply chain, driving continuous improvement in delivering safety solutions.
  • Establish and monitor a schedule of weekly health and safety inspections, engaging operational staff, senior management, and support services.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Health and Safety Manager, with a strong background in Major Project Civils.
  • NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Safety.
  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental Management or Sustainability, or IEMA Foundation Certificate.
Remuneration

The client is offering a competitive salary up to £72,000, plus car allowance and package for the right candidate.
