Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the procurement of building materials, products, and services for residential construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Support the senior buyer in preparing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and prices to achieve the best value for the company.
  • Monitor inventory levels and liaise with site managers to ensure materials are available as needed for ongoing projects.
  • Assist in the evaluation of supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards and company requirements.
  • Prepare reports and provide data analysis on procurement activities, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other departments to support the smooth execution of projects.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new products to contribute to the continuous improvement of the procurement process.

Requirements:

  • Awareness of Building Regulations, NHBC requirements and Health & Safety Legislation.
  • IT literate – including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Experience in the procurement and purchase of materials, sub-contractor and plant (preferable, not essential).
  • Some experience in design packages (preferable, not essential).
  • Previous experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably within the construction or housing sector.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude, with a passion for developing a career in procurement.
  • A relevant qualification in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field (essential).
