We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Case Discipline Lead to join our team on a permanent basis, working on major projects.

Purpose and Scope

The Discipline Lead will be responsible for developing and delivering core radiological safety case capability and support to programmes, projects, and Amentum's UK growth aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Act as a safety case expert, providing support to project teams, including safety case management, authoring, and verification.
  2. Support programme and project safety case leads in strategic planning and delivery.
  3. Assist the Head of Profession in developing and implementing resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence frameworks.
  4. Identify, implement, review, and monitor management and technical arrangements to support project delivery.
  5. Prepare and coordinate safety documentation delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
  6. Advise Amentum leadership, engineering, programme, and project management teams on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  7. Assist in safety case assurance through project, programme, and corporate requirements.
  8. Define and develop interfaces between related functions, ensuring effective work delivery.
  9. Support client interactions with regulators and safety committees.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A degree (or equivalent education).
  2. Proven experience in nuclear fire safety assessment, including nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  3. Experience in applying codes and assessments in various operations and fault scenarios.
  4. Experience working in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organizations.
  5. Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment.
  6. Experience in managing staff and contractors.
  7. Knowledge of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  8. A solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  9. Knowledge of regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  10. Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  11. Travel may be required, including occasional overseas travel.
Desirable Qualifications

The following qualifications are desirable:

  1. Experience in safety case development in civil reactors and the defence sector.
  2. Previous working knowledge of UK nuclear new build.
  3. Experience in international nuclear safety assessment, project management, and project controls.
  4. Stakeholder management and ability to mentor and coach.
