Our client is a leading insurance company seeking a highly skilled Trainee Underwriting Assistant to join their Private Client team in Surrey. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the underwriters, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support underwriters with administrative tasks, including data input and phone queries
  • Manage new business and renewal cases on rate engines and insurer systems
  • Assist brokers with queries regarding new business and renewals
  • Provide background information to inform underwriters' decisions on pre-renewal and new business
  • Administer renewals and mid-term adjustments within underwriting guidelines and binding authorities
  • Assist in the production of monthly MI for presentation to senior managers
  • Attend meetings with brokers and insurers when required
  • Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and act in the best interests of clients

Essential Skills:

  • 2024 Graduate or School Leaver
  • Basic understanding of the London insurance market / High-Net-Worth Household Insurance
  • Strong administrative and IT skills (Microsoft Suite)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organised with attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
  • Confident phone manner and ability to respond to broker queries
  • A basic understanding of underwriting principles
