About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Residential Support Worker to join our team at North Lakes Children's Services. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to our young people, promoting their resilience, self-esteem, and abilities.

Our Residential Support Workers are key to creating a nurturing and supportive environment, where our young people can thrive. You will be responsible for supporting daily routines, promoting personal hygiene, and encouraging independence. You will also attend medical appointments, support activity planners, and complete daily paperwork.

As a residential support worker, you will be a role model, a listening ear, and a warm and approachable person. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on a young person's life, their choices, who they are, and who they can be. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people, has excellent communication and listening skills, and is willing to learn and develop their skills.

Main Duties

  • Supporting daily routines, including getting the young people up, promoting personal hygiene, meals, and activities
  • Supporting room cleans, developing life skills, and promoting socialization and bedtime routines
  • Attending medical appointments
  • Supporting activity planners and completing day sheets for the young people
  • Completing handover documents and tasks
  • Completing daily paperwork, budgeting requirements, and daily room checks
  • Completing food and other shopping needs, including meal preparation and kitchen hygiene/laundry duties
  • Liaising and building relationships with families, working to find out about special dates for the young people and ensuring these are noted/marked, sorting and planning family time contacts

About You

  • Flexibility in your availability is a must, as the role will involve sleep in nights and shift work of hours – typically full days on, days off. Rotating start times of 8am, 10am, and 12pm
  • An understanding of the issues that face young people in care
  • A Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level in Health & Social Care or equivalent – or be willing to work towards a required qualification
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Be willing to learn
  • Be able to work well as part of a small team
  • Be willing to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position. Your DBS check shall be paid for by ourselves
  • Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work would be advantageous
  • A full, clean UK driving licence and be able to cover at other Residential Homes as and when needed
