Senior Support Worker

About the Role
Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Senior Support Worker to join our team as a Compassionate Care Caller. In this role, you will work closely with patients who have attended the Emergency Department (ED) presenting with self-harm, providing compassionate care follow-up calls to support their recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver compassionate care follow-up calls to patients who have attended the ED following self-harm.
- Use your skills to engage patients during telephone calls, understanding their situation, exploring coping strategies, and ensuring safety plans are in place.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the causes of aggression and utilise skills in the prevention, de-escalation, and management of violence and aggression.
- Respond to the needs of people sensitively, with regard to their age, race, culture, gender, religion, sexuality, and disability.
- Ensure that all incidents and complaints are reported to the team manager in accordance with trust policy.

Person Specification
- Experience working with people, patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in an acute and crisis setting.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and management tools within crisis services.
- Knowledge of mental health problems.
- Demonstrate ability to determine level of risk to self, service users, and others.
