We are seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York. As a specialist in neurorehabilitation, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, and complex neurological conditions.

About the Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing and managing communication and swallowing disorders in patients. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop evidence-led therapy programmes that achieve the best outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level
  • Maintain high standards of clinical care in line with national guidance
  • Named Therapist duties to ensure cohesive goal-setting and therapy coordination
  • Develop skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
  • Participate in internal training and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure patient safety and protect their human rights

Requirements

  • HCPC registration
  • Previous experience in a neurorehabilitation setting
  • Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia
  • Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework
  • Ability to motivate patients over long periods
  • Enhanced DBS required
