Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York. As a specialist in neurorehabilitation, you will work with patients who have acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.
Our centre is a Level 2 purpose-built facility, rated as GOOD by the Care Quality Commission. We provide high-quality and intensive neurological rehabilitation, physical, cognitive, functional, and vocational assessments, behavioural management, and complex disability assessments for adults.
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for:
- Providing assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
- Developing evidence-led therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for our patients
- Maintaining high standards of clinical care in line with national guidance for excellence
- Named Therapist duties to ensure cohesive goal-setting and therapy and coordinating discharge
- Developing your skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
- Participating in internal training and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensuring all relevant codes of practice and regulations are upheld
We are looking for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia. You will have a specialist level dysphagia competency on the RCSLT framework and be able to motivate patients over long periods.
