Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and expertise to our client, a PE-backed SME business with a blue-chip client base. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering best-in-class financial control, embedding robust internal controls, and leading the preparation of Group management results and consolidated statutory results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Control and Leadership: Deliver best-in-class financial control through effective team design, engagement, development, performance management, and recruitment.
  • Internal Controls: Embed a robust internal controls and review framework to ensure accuracy of reported financial information.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of Group management results and consolidated statutory results.
  • Monthly Close Process: Lead an efficient and accurate monthly close process across all regions, achieving the highest quality of balance sheet review and reconciliations.
  • Balance Sheet Management: Manage balance sheet risks, opportunities, and provisions, flagging impact on P&L and inputting to forecast/budget processes as appropriate.
  • Working Capital Management: Maximise working capital, applying commercial judgement to manage suppliers and customers with a focus on cash.
  • Financial Assistance: Provide financial assistance to subsidiaries, including management reporting guidance and cashflow statement support.
  • Consolidated Financial Statements: Own consolidated financial statements.
  • Financial Analysis: Understand, interpret, and explain the financial results and records of the operating businesses.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Experience: Significant experience in controlling, accounting/consolidating/reporting
  • Skills: Significant experience in financial and management accounting, current accounting practices and methods
  • Industry Experience: Experience of working with PE-backed businesses or similar environment where cash and working capital management is critical
  • Track Record: Proven track record of improving processes, instilling strong control environments, and improving finance teams
  • Ability: Ability to operate at pace and balance competing priorities
