Job Overview

We are recruiting for a Climate Model Developer to join our research team at Newcastle University. As a key member of our group, you will be responsible for developing and applying climate models to understand the impacts of climate change on environmental systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer science or a related field, with experience in developing and applying climate models. They will also have excellent programming skills in Python and experience with large datasets.

This is a full-time position based on site in Newcastle, with an estimated salary of £38,000-£50,000 per annum, depending on experience. The position is fixed term for 2 years, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply climate models to simulate future climate scenarios
  • Implement and test climate model code
  • Collaborate with other researchers to integrate climate information into decision-making frameworks
  • Communicate research findings through publications and presentations

Requirements:

  • Strong background in computer science or a related field
  • Experience in developing and applying climate models
