About the Role
Bombay Story Indian Kitchen & Bar is seeking a professional Host or Hostess to join our team and provide exceptional service to our guests. As the first point of contact, you will be responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring a positive dining experience from the moment guests arrive until they leave.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests to the venue and escort them to their assigned dining or bar areas
- Provide menus and announce the Waiter/Waitress's name
- Gather customer feedback and monitor satisfaction while dining
- Make menu recommendations, answer questions, and share additional information with restaurant patrons
- Assist the Restaurant Manager and their Assistants in maintaining team morale through social and educational events
- Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options and maintain a clean reception area
- Cater to guests who require extra attention, such as children or elderly individuals
- Answer incoming calls and address customers' queries
- Assist wait staff as needed and occasionally take customer orders and deliver food and beverages
Requirements
- English as a first or second language (spoken, written, and reading)
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance
- Basic math and computer skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong task and time management abilities
- Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques
- Well-groomed and presentable
- Discretion and loyalty
- The ability to multitask
- Excellent timekeeping
- Flexible working hours, including working on bank holidays
