About Our Client

Michael Page (UK) is seeking a seasoned procurement professional to join their team as an Interim Procurement Specialist. If you have a strong track record of delivering procurement excellence in the not-for-profit and government sectors, with experience in the transport sector, and a proven ability to work remotely, we encourage you to apply.

As the procurement lead, you will be responsible for managing stakeholders both internally and with third-party suppliers. Your key objective will be to ensure that all procurements provide value for money by managing the end-to-end process, which includes providing challenge to statements of requirement, designing the appropriate route to market, ensuring fair evaluation of all tenders, obtaining legal input if required, and signing contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and internal procedures that reflect best practice and are followed.
  • Ensure that all spend is compliant with government procurement regulations.
  • Provide guidance to contract managers to ensure that third-party suppliers deliver the required products/services.
  • Line manage two Procurement Executives and oversee their professional development.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge in public sector procurement and experience in dealing with large contracts (c10 million).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in procuring under Public Sector procurement regulations (PCR2015).
  • Collaborative team leader with expertise in procuring under CCS/wider public sector frameworks.
  • Demonstrable history of running public procurement exercises, ideally in central government as well as transport.
  • A history of procuring a wide variety of goods and services including IT, consultancy, and professional services.
