About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated School Health Nurse Assistant to join our team at Solent NHS Trust. As a key member of our Public Health Nursing Team, you will play a vital role in promoting good health in school age children through the delivery of the National Childhood Measurement Programme and Vision and Hearing Screening.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Southampton 5-19 Public Health Nursing Team to promote good health in school age children through the delivery of the National Childhood Measurement Programme and Vision and Hearing Screening.
  • Promote good health when in contact with young people, parents, and school staff.
  • Undertake screening and assessment of growth parameters, hearing, and vision, with follow-ups of those children identified with health problems. Report and refer as necessary to other agencies, including Audiology clinic, orthoptist, and optician.
  • Be aware of the signs of child abuse and children in need and adhere to Solent Child Protection Procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge within your sphere of competence.
  • Liaise with parents and school as required, including families of multi-cultural background.
