We are seeking a seasoned Design Leadership Professional to join our East Midlands office, offering hybrid working arrangements. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will report directly to the Design Management Regional Discipline Lead (RDL) and oversee projects through their design phases for a portfolio of projects.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead projects towards cost-effective, technically compliant, and buildable solutions that meet all stakeholder requirements, as well as program expectations and project delivery processes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance in design, adhering to relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations, and H&S legislation.
  • Identify and manage H&S hazards, effectively communicating residual risks to stakeholders.
  • Lead the Design team in delivering their responsibilities and ensure a focused approach to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
  • Account for expenditure, drive efficiency, and manage overall outturn costs for design by producing design deliverables within allocated resource hours and key dates.
  • Organize all design elements, documenting it in the Design Management Plan and preparing monthly status update reports as necessary.
  • Attend and contribute to all relevant program, project, and technical meetings.
  • Ensure the technical solution outperforms on costs while maintaining quality standards and timely delivery.
  • Provide technical support during construction, assembly, and commissioning stages.
  • Ensure all technical work is undertaken to correct standards and specifications, following appropriate systems of work and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to achieving sustainability targets, particularly reducing embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of solutions.
  • Communicate and work effectively with people from other partner organizations, backgrounds, and disciplines, utilizing their knowledge and experience and adding to this with your own expertise.
  • Recognize and provide exceptional customer service both internally and with partners and externally with the client, their customers, and the general public.
  • Represent MWH Treatment and RSK Group of companies in all client contacts and promote the MWH / RSK reputation.
  • Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
  • Undertake such other duties, training, and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
  • In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of MWH Treatment and maintain mutually constructive, positive, and beneficial relationships.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.
