Job Summary

The Respiratory Physiology Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Physiologist to join our team as a Senior Respiratory Physiologist. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic testing services to patients with respiratory and non-respiratory conditions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform standard lung function testing, unsupervised, to gain accurate and clinically valuable measurements.
  • Lead, educate, and encourage patients in required test techniques, explaining the need for full co-operation and maximum effort in performing Lung Function tests.
  • Obtain reproducible and clinically meaningful results, acknowledging when to reject poor measurements and technical errors.
  • Distribute and interpret results for colleagues, junior members of staff, students, and other members of staff in all aspects of patient care and respiratory physiology.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental colleagues and other members of staff in all aspects of patient care and respiratory physiology.
  • Produce written reports on Lung Function measurements and patient co-operation with procedures and technique.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and friendly team, working with leading clinicians who are pushing boundaries in patient care. As a Senior Respiratory Physiologist, you will have the opportunity to work in a wide range of diagnostic tests and treatments, including CPAP provision and support, Respiratory polygraphy, PSG/MSLT, and NIV.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a BSc in Healthcare Science or equivalent, with the ability to progress to HCPC/RCCP registration. Relevant practical experience and specialist knowledge across a range of procedures within respiratory physiology are essential. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
