About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Category Manager to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities across various categories, including Medical, Mental Health, and Corporate/Estates.

As a Procurement Category Manager, you will be responsible for establishing, developing, and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders, including Heads of Departments, Clinical Leads, Operational Leads, and Senior Finance Managers. You will also be responsible for providing regular updates on project progress and ensuring that procurement activities are aligned with the Trust's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement activities across various categories, including Medical, Mental Health, and Corporate/Estates
  • Establish, develop, and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including Heads of Departments, Clinical Leads, Operational Leads, and Senior Finance Managers
  • Provide regular updates on project progress and ensure that procurement activities are aligned with the Trust's strategic objectives
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost savings and improve procurement efficiency
  • Manage contracts and negotiate with suppliers to ensure best value for the Trust
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that procurement activities are aligned with the Trust's overall strategy
Requirements
  • Good standard of general education
  • Degree level or relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a procurement team
  • Experience in category management
  • Demonstrable successful project management experience with proven ability to deliver projects on-time
  • Experience of contract, stakeholder, and supplier management
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholder groups
  • Experience of negotiating complex contracts
  • Sound knowledge of contract management
  • Knowledge of best practice in procurement and supply
