SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with diverse learning needs in Brentwood. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with teachers, SEN Coordinators, and other professionals to deliver tailored support and create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Collaboration: Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to assist students with various learning needs, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Individualized Education Plans: Help implement and manage individualized education plans for students, ensuring their unique needs are met.
  • Targeted Support: Provide focused support to individual students or small groups based on their specific learning requirements, fostering a sense of belonging and engagement.
  • Positive Relationships: Build strong, supportive relationships with students to promote their well-being and engagement, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Holistic Support: Collaborate with parents and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system for students, addressing their physical, emotional, and academic needs.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in applying behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment, promoting social skills and emotional intelligence.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, especially with SEN students, is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, teachers, and parents, ensuring seamless collaboration and support.
  • Patience and Adaptability: A patient, adaptable approach with a genuine passion for helping students succeed, making a meaningful impact on their lives.
  • Teamwork: Proactive and willing to collaborate with the teaching team to achieve the best outcomes for students, promoting a culture of mutual respect and support.
