About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Planning Director to join our team at Benson Mack Search. As a key member of our consultancy, you will be responsible for leading and managing a multidisciplinary planning team, supporting the delivery of high-quality solutions for onshore wind, solar, battery storage, and grid projects in Scotland and England.

In this role, you will work closely with our Planning Director, managing the workload of the planning team and acting as environmental planning lead for major projects in the energy sector. You will also coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams working on planning and/or EIA projects, providing competent advice on planning matters, and ensuring work is undertaken diligently and meets statutory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Town Planning, Geography, Environmental Management)
  • Membership of RTPI, IEMA, or Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent knowledge of planning process including current methods, legislation, techniques, and guidance
  • Proven project management skills, including financial management, programme management, and quality control
  • Demonstrable experience in the energy or renewables sectors is desirable but not essential
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and time using initiative
  • Excellent business development skills and ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Eligible to drive in the UK

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
