Chester, Cheshire, United Kingdom Workingmums Full time
About the Role

You'll start your day in the local delivery office, sorting and gathering the mail needed for your route. You will collect your allocated vehicle and your hand-held computer device (detailing your route and tracking your mail) and then deliver the mail and parcels to your local community. Shift lengths vary between 4-6 hours per day. Please be aware that you will be walking more than driving and most Post people do over 25,000 steps a day.

About You
The ideal candidate for this role will be upbeat, self-motivated, and happy to work alone as well as part of a team. You will be helpful and approachable, displaying a strong sense of community, as you get to know the people you meet on your round. Royal Mail delivers parcels whatever the weather, so you will enjoy working outdoors and due to the amount of walking required, you will need to be relatively fit and healthy. You will be smartly presented, always acting in a professional and courteous manner.

Minimum Requirements
  • A full UK manual driving licence (in your current UK address).
  • Maximum 6 penalty points.
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to accept IN/DD/DR/CD endorsements.
Previous Experience
Some previous experience in a customer-facing or delivery role would be ideal but not essential. You will be required to complete a full DBS security check prior to commencing work.

What We Offer
As a Post Office Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering mail and parcels to the local community. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to providing excellent customer service and ensuring that mail and parcels are delivered safely and efficiently. We offer a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays. If you are a motivated and customer-focused individual who enjoys working outdoors, we would love to hear from you.
