About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Area Manager to join our team at McCain Foods in Scarborough, UK. As a Shift Area Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of manufacturing operatives and engineers to deliver performance targets in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment, and People.

You will engage and motivate your team to exceed performance targets, driving a talent and performance culture, creating a collaborative and inclusive team, and nurturing and developing key talent. You will also plan, manage, and coordinate the development of the shift team's skills and capabilities, collaborate with the Engineering Function, and provide training and coaching to the shift team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of manufacturing operatives and engineers to deliver performance targets
  • Engage and motivate the team to exceed performance targets
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate the development of the shift team's skills and capabilities
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Function
  • Provide training and coaching to the shift team
  • Take accountability for personal safety, team safety, and others
  • Manage quality specification requirements and ensure Best Operating Practices are followed
  • Deliver the production schedule while ensuring agreed safety, quality, efficiency, and cost targets are met
  • Pro-actively manage operational costs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Requirements
  • Experience of leading a team in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Strong safety, food safety, and quality mindset
  • Experience of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools
  • Ability to hold yourself and others accountable for meeting goals
  • Creating environments where people are motivated to do their best
