About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with emotional and behavioural difficulties in our inclusive primary school in Ilford. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering a calm and positive classroom environment where students can thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with classroom activities and improve their social and emotional skills.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to implement tailored behaviour management strategies that promote positive learning behaviours.
  • Support children with emotional regulation techniques, helping them to manage challenging behaviour and improve their focus during lessons.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual learning plans, ensuring students have the resources and support needed to succeed academically.
  • Build positive relationships with students, offering a safe and encouraging space for them to express their emotions and gain confidence in their abilities.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and the SEN team on students' emotional, behavioural, and academic development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children who have SEMH needs is beneficial.
  • A good understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a commitment to helping children overcome challenges.
  • A clear DBS check.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
