About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpentry Team Lead to join our team at Bloor Homes. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of apprentices, ensuring they receive the necessary coaching, learning, and development to complete their Advanced Apprenticeship Programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Induction: Assist in the recruitment and induction of new apprentices, ensuring they are properly onboarded and equipped to succeed in their roles.
  • Coaching and Development: Provide coaching, learning, and development opportunities to apprentices, helping them to achieve their full potential and complete their qualifications.
  • Site Management: Liaise with the NVQ Assessor/CITB Apprenticeship Officer to ensure the required evidence towards the apprentices' qualifications can be obtained, and provide on-going feedback on their performance to the Site Management Team.
  • Team Management: Day-to-day management of the team of apprentices, ensuring they are supervised at all times while producing a quality product.
  • Health and Safety: Manage the health and safety of the apprentices, ensuring they follow the Company Health and Safety Policy and Young Persons Risk Assessment at all times.
  • Support and Development: Support and ensure the apprentices have every opportunity to achieve their NVQ II and III, and assist on other areas of the site as required.
  • Meetings and Compliance: Attend meetings that may be necessary in the performance of your duties, and comply with and uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Additional Tasks: Undertake any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time, ensuring all health and safety aspects of Covid-19 are adhered to.
Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Time Served Carpenter: A time served carpenter with a strong understanding of the trade.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing a team of people, including trainees and apprentices.
  • Apprenticeship: Hold an apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Carpentry, or a related trade.
  • Driving Licence: Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Carpentry Knowledge: Be able to demonstrate a high level of Carpentry knowledge and understanding.
  • Health and Safety: Have a clear understanding of Health and Safety on a construction site.
  • Communication Skills: Possess patient and empathetic communication skills, with the ability to encourage and enthuse learners.
