Leonardo, a world-class defence technology company based in Edinburgh, is seeking an experienced Principal/Lead Electronics Engineer to join its team.

Job Overview

This exciting opportunity involves designing and developing cutting-edge electronic systems for the Eurofighter Typhoon and other Defence projects. As a key member of the Power Supply Delivery Team (PSDT), you will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.

We offer a competitive salary of £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits including half days on Fridays, flexible working hours, gym memberships, and an award-winning pension scheme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lay the groundwork for future Power Systems development.
  • Conduct PSU topology analysis and develop new technologies in Energy Storage and Energy Conservation.
  • Provide technical and managerial support to Engineering, Project, and PSDT Management Teams.
  • Support Power CDT for a full range of Power System tests, including prototyping, design verification, and production support.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience in the design, manufacture, test, and integration of PSUs and/or Power Systems. Ideally, you will possess a minimum of HND in Engineering or Systems or related technical discipline.

You should have knowledge in the following areas:

  • ACDC and/or DCDC switched mode power supply design.
  • Control and interface circuitry.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics.
  • Familiarity with a recognised Schematic and Simulation toolset.
  • Experience with simulation software: Simetrix, LT Spice, Matlab.
