Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team in Sunderland, United Kingdom. This is a challenging opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for delivering successful construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing cost estimation, procurement, and contract negotiation, ensuring project financial efficiency and compliance with industry standards. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare and manage detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, taking into account factors such as material costs, labor costs, and overheads.
  2. Cost Analysis and Financial Reporting: Conduct cost analysis and financial reporting throughout project lifecycles, providing regular updates to stakeholders and identifying areas for improvement.
  3. Contract Negotiation and Management: Negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring that all agreements are fair, transparent, and compliant with industry standards.
  4. Project Cash Flow and Budget Management: Monitor and manage project cash flows and budgets, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
  5. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and assess commercial risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the project.
  6. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with relevant construction regulations and legislation, including health and safety requirements and environmental regulations.
  7. Liaison and Communication: Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure project targets are met, provide regular updates, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Experience: Extensive experience (5+ years) in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and best practices. Proficiency in cost management software and financial reporting tools.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Membership: Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is preferred.
  • License: Full UK driving license.
Salary and Benefits
