About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Elowen Hospital in Derbyshire. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to patients on our 12-bed female complex personality disorder service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients with complex personality disorders and co-morbid disordered eating.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users.
  • Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Participate in ward rounds and clinical audits.
  • Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management, and clinical governance.
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers hearings.
  • Participate in the telephone Second on-call rota.

Requirements
  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes.
  • Committed to continued professional development.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
