About the Role

Cygnet Health Care is seeking an exceptional Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Elowen, a brand new specialist 24-bed mental health hospital for women due to open in January 2025.

As a Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of clinical practice and serving as an example of operational excellence. You will ensure optimal clinical outcomes for the people in our care, provide expert knowledge and support within the service and to the wider team, and ensure quality and compliance with internal and external standards and regulations.

You will work with colleagues to provide integrated, whole-person treatment and care, coach, mentor, and train colleagues, and lead on all aspects of clinical governance. You will also be responsible for medical appraisals, clinical supervision, case investigation, and case management.

Requirements

  • Fully GMC registered with a relevant medical qualification
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  • An accomplished leader and clinician with strong line management and communication skills
  • Experienced within a mental health setting and a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of clinical governance
  • Skilled in medical appraisals, clinical supervision, case investigation, and case management
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
