Job Title: Senior Development Technician

Mane Contract Services is seeking an experienced Senior Development Technician to join our team. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for assembling and testing optical modules, building rigs and prototypes, and contributing to the development of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and test optical modules, ensuring high-quality and precision.
  • Build rigs and prototypes, working closely with design engineers to bring new ideas to life.
  • Procure materials and parts required for developments, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Cable assembly work, including wiring, crimping, and soldering.
  • PCB Assembly work, requiring good soldering skills and attention to detail.
  • Build one-off PCBs, using hand tools or manual mill and lathe as needed.
  • Run trials on test rigs and prototypes, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing performance.
  • Contribute to build and test documentation, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient working environment, adhering to safety procedures and protocols.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the wider R&D department, as required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 'A' level education within an engineering discipline.
  • Competence in most or all of the following skills: machining, cable assembly, soldering, clean assembly for optics and microfluidics, use of metrology and test equipment.
  • Experience in an electromechanical assembly, test, or repair environment.
  • Adaptable in response to short-term priorities.
  • A good team-worker, used to working in a project-focussed environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
