About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Consultant to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a Principal Designer/Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients, employees, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Health & Safety Services on both independent commissions and to complement our wider project delivery services.
  • Provide Principal Designer Services under CDM2015.
  • Production of pre-construction information, files, and other associated CDM documents.
  • Ensuring Designer compliance.
  • Reviewing contractors' documentation.
  • Interfacing with clients and design teams on a project basis.
  • Conducting site H&S inspections/audits.
  • Advising clients on procurement options and consultant appointment issues.
  • Pro-active in business development of the Services within the Region.
  • Keeping updated with current legal developments in respect of construction and associated law.

Requirements:

  • Possess or working toward a NEBOSH National / Construction Certificate.
  • A member of APS, IOSH, and/or CIOB or working towards.
  • A relevant design or construction-related qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • Good IT skills and working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the component parts of CDM 2015 and other Health & Safety issues.
  • Working knowledge of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
  • H+S Training capability may be an advantage.
  • Strong Communication skills - experience of communicating with people at differing levels effectively through oral and written communication.
  • Client-facing skills - experience of working with clients at a strategic/operational level and managing the relationships effectively.
  • Strong Planning and Organising skills - able to prioritise workload and deadlines and manage change effectively.
  • Effective problem resolution skills - solution-oriented with the ability to manage problems and complaints assertively.
  • Teamwork skills - ability to work with others to achieve team and personal targets or objectives.
