Job Title: Highways Planning Specialist

About the Role:
A permanent position has become available for a Highways Planning Specialist to join our team at WP Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing pre-application highways advice, processing and assessment of the highways elements of planning applications, and attending committee meetings and planning appeals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Liaise with local authority planning departments, external organisations, developers, and the public to provide pre-application highways advice
• Process and assess the highways elements of planning applications, including site visits and working to deadlines
• Attend committee meetings and planning appeals
• Process and assess Highway Agreement applications
• Manage detailed records for all schemes, including legal and financial agreements
• Conduct technical reviews and analysis of existing network capacity and safety
• Assist in maintaining highway adoption, highways search, and street naming/numbering processes
• Ensure adherence to highways regulations and health and safety standards

Requirements:
• Previous experience in highways or planning development control/design, including knowledge of the Highways Act and CDM legislation
• Management experience of teams and works
• A degree-level qualification in planning or civil engineering (preferred)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
• Ability to work to deadlines and be flexible with duties
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Full driver's license

Salary and Benefits:
The salary for this role is estimated to be around £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. Subsidised ferry travel may be available for successful candidates.
