Clinical Lead

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated speech and language therapist to lead our inpatient stroke pathway. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with the stroke multidisciplinary team and develop a highly specialist programme of assessment, treatment, and intervention for stroke patients with communication and/or swallowing deficits.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead and manage a clinical workload, assess and treat patients, and maintain clinical records. They will also have highly specialist assessment and treatment skills within the specialist area of stroke care.
The role involves working autonomously, managing a clinical workload, and providing support and supervision to others. The successful candidate will also be involved in best interest and mental capacity assessments, as required.
We are looking for a candidate who is able to demonstrate clinical leadership, work collaboratively with health and social care professionals, and maintain good working relationships with community partners.
Main Responsibilities- To manage the stroke caseload and appropriately delegate work to others within the MDT to deliver the service required.
- To perform specialist assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex conditions.
- To implement, evaluate, and modify individualized care and interventions.
- To be involved in best interest and mental capacity assessments as required.
- To lead development and implement evidence-based protocols and standards of care.
- To provide support and supervision to others, including students on clinical placement.
- To be involved in MDT events, including workforce development and training, meetings, and conferences.
- Registered with HCPC
- Clinical educator training
- Member of Professional Body
- Master's Level of Study
- Specialist experience of assessment and therapeutic techniques for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
- Experience in assessment, treatment, and evaluation therapy in communication and swallowing disorders associated with stroke.
- Experience in staff development, including providing supervision and completing appraisals.
- A proven ability to learn with evidence of ongoing continue professional development.
- Experience in case management of people with complex needs.
- Experience of developing and delivering training on communication and swallowing disorders.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD.
- Ability to identify own learning needs and engage in self-directed learning.
- Membership or working towards membership of Special interest groups/Clinical Excellence Networks.
- Experience of dealing with complaints.
- Ability to prioritize own caseload and assist others to do the same.
- Ability to demonstrate clinical leadership.
- Proven ability to work within a team.
- Ability to manage customer expectation, e.g., dealing with complaints.
- Experience of liaison with other health professionals and multi-agency partnership working.
- Experience of working with Speech & Language Therapy assistants.
- Experience of working on Acute wards.
- Experience of managing teams.
