We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Night Staff Nurse to join our Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) team at 279 University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The SAU is a new development aimed at improving the quality of care and experience for emergency surgical patients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering professional, evidence-based nursing care to patients on the SAU, ensuring that patients and their families/carers receive the highest quality, and most effective and compassionate care whilst on the unit.
The SAU will be a fast-paced unit in which patients present with a variety of surgical conditions and care needs, giving rise to a range of different learning and development opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in an exciting new initiative to improve patient care and experience in a dedicated environment, whilst expanding your existing skills and experience.
The post holder will be expected to work a variety of shift patterns, including night duties, and will be responsible for:
- Providing effective, safe and evidence-based patient care.
- Involvement in the admission, assessment and treatment of surgical patients and responsibility for the triage of patient referrals, timely interventions and the management of admissions and discharges.
- Ensuring effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders and individuals, including health and social care professionals, and patients, relatives and carers.
- Acting as a role model, ensuring effective staff supervision and communication with the SAU team.
As a Night Staff Nurse in the SAU, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive team environment, and to develop your skills and experience in a rapidly evolving clinical area.
