About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Biomedical Scientist, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing a range of laboratory tests and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake testing and processing of biomedical specimens, analysis and entering of results onto the computer system.
  • Work flexibly in reflection of service needs, including extended working days and participation in a 24-hour, 7-day service.
  • Supervise and/or train less experienced staff in own area of work and competency.
  • Maintain and promote a professional image of the Pathology Department.

Person Specification

Essential

  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development.
  • Additional appropriate specialist qualification if required.

Desirable

  • Practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory.
  • Knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge/performance of Risk Assessments.
  • Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS.
  • European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent.
