Quality Assurance Manager

About the Role:
Avara Foods is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at our Wednesbury site. As a key member of our quality team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, legality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the QA team to ensure effective implementation of quality procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and other functions to ensure seamless quality control.
- Develop and maintain quality management systems, including HACCP and Food Defence.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
- Provide support to the Technical NPD coordinator and production team.
- Manage external service providers, including pest control and laboratory services.
- Work closely with HR to ensure disciplinary, grievance, and absence procedures are followed.
- Member of the HACCP and Food Defence team.
- Support the implementation of a robust food safety culture on site and quality initiatives.
- Internal auditing QMS.
- Lead 3rd party audits and customer visits.
Requirements:
- Relevant scientific or food-related qualifications (Degree desirable).
- Practical working knowledge of BRCGS and retailer requirements.
- Experience working with major retailers, including leading audits.
- HACCP and Food safety qualifications.
- Internal auditing training.
- Basic understanding of microbiology and potential consequences to food safety and quality.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
