About the Role:

Avara Foods, a leading food business, is seeking a highly competent and motivated Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at our Wednesbury site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the QA team to ensure product quality, legality, and safety while meeting customer specifications in a fast-paced short shelf-life environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the QA team to ensure effective performance assessments and continuous development.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, HR, and other functions to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Develop and implement quality management systems, HACCP, and food defense procedures.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed by the technical team and non-conformances are identified and addressed.
  • Liaise with production to deliver products that meet customer specifications.
  • Investigate customer complaints and ensure findings and action plans are completed and communicated.
  • Support the implementation of a robust food safety culture and quality initiatives.
  • Lead internal audits and 3rd-party audits and customer visits.

Requirements:

  • Relevant scientific or food-related qualifications (degree desirable).
  • Practical working knowledge of BRCGS and retailer requirements.
  • Experience working with major retailers, including leading audits.
  • HACCP and food safety qualifications.
  • Internal auditing training.
  • Basic understanding of microbiology and potential consequences to food safety and quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
