Key Responsibilities:

The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in developing menus, creating recipes, and planning daily specials. They will work closely with the Head Chef to design the overall culinary vision for Sussex Inns.

Leadership and Supervision:

The Sous Chef will oversee the day-to-day operations in the kitchen, coordinating and delegating tasks to the kitchen staff. They will ensure smooth workflow and maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.

Staff Development and Training:

The Sous Chef will play a crucial role in training and developing the kitchen staff. They will provide guidance, instructions, and support to team members, ensuring they adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.

Culinary Expertise:

The Sous Chef will actively participate in food preparation and cooking, preparing complex dishes, sauces, and garnishes. They will ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen are cooked to perfection and meet Sussex Inns' standards.

Inventory Management:

The Sous Chef will assist in inventory management, monitoring stock levels, ordering ingredients, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of perishable items. They will help control food costs and minimize waste.

Menu Development:

The Sous Chef will collaborate with the Head Chef in creating new dishes, developing menus, and planning seasonal or special event menus. They may also contribute to menu engineering and pricing decisions.

Quality Control and Presentation:

The Sous Chef will ensure that all dishes meet quality standards and are visually appealing. They will pay attention to details such as portion sizes, plating techniques, and food presentation to maintain consistency and enhance the dining experience.

Hygiene and Safety:

The Sous Chef will enforce strict adherence to food safety regulations, sanitation guidelines, and kitchen cleanliness. They will lead by example and ensure that all staff members follow proper hygiene practices.

Pressure and Problem Solving:

The Sous Chef will thrive in high-pressure environments and be adept at multitasking. They will troubleshoot any kitchen issues, resolve conflicts, and make quick decisions to maintain smooth operations during busy periods.

Accommodation:
