Launch Engineering Manager

Main Responsibilities- Direct Line Management: Lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, providing coaching, training, and guidance to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
- Launch Support: Provide expert support to launch teams, ensuring that all activities are executed on time, on budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Project Management: Oversee the management of all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering projects, including site development and launch, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Workload Planning: Plan and manage the workload for specific major projects across production shutdown periods, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams to deliver on-time, on-cost product launches, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and working towards a common goal.
- Contract Management: Prepare and review RFQs, contracts, and risk management documents to ensure that all agreements are fair, reasonable, and compliant with company policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes to processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with external contractors and stakeholders to ensure that all requirements are met and that the company's reputation is maintained.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work completed by staff or contractors meets the required standards and that any deficiencies are addressed promptly.
- Running Changes: Coordinate the successful implementation of running changes, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the changes are executed smoothly.
- Project Management Systems: Implement and ensure team adherence to IAC Project Management Systems, ensuring that all projects are managed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Plant Interface: Manage the plant interface in support of program targets, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and working towards a common goal.
- Customer Relationship: Maintain IAC and personal credibility with the customer, balancing customer relationship and IAC profitability.
- Launch Readiness Reviews: Ensure that Launch Readiness Reviews are complete and updated as required, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the launch is executed smoothly.
- Customer Launch Meetings: Support customer launch meetings, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the launch is executed smoothly.
- Engineering and Launch KPIs: Ensure that Engineering and Launch KPIs are updated timely, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the launch is executed smoothly.
- Off-Standard Resolution: Own the resolution of off-standard issues, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the issue is resolved promptly.
- Launch Readiness Documents: Identify and lead to resolution of key issues related to Launch Readiness Documents, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the launch is executed smoothly.
- Issue Management: Clearly identify and follow up on issues requiring management intervention, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the issue is resolved promptly.
- Launch Process Management: Support the management of the launch process and launch reviews, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the launch is executed smoothly.
- Project Milestones/Timing Plans: Apply, execute, and maintain function-related Project Milestones/Timing Plans, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the project is executed smoothly.
- Engineering and Project Deliverables: Ensure continuity on current engineering and project deliverables, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and that the project is executed smoothly.
- Candidates must be time-served multi-skilled Engineers, preferably certified to HND/degree level.
- Proven experience of Engineering, preferably within a high-volume, automotive manufacturing environment.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational and communicational skills, as well as a strong sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
- Confident decision makers and proactive problem solvers.
- Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
- Experienced in managing and delivering significant capex projects.
- Experienced in working in a highly pressured and demand-focused organisation.
- Able to liaise professionally at all levels within and outside the Company.
- Knowledge of customer base, manufacturing processes and capabilities, company products, technology, and efficiency.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
- 3 years of experience working within a JIT/Lean manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of MES, DC tooling, EOL electrical test, and Vision systems is advantageous.
