As a Launch Engineering Manager at Select Engineering, you will be responsible for providing a supervisory and engineering service to support all launch-related activities. This includes direct line management, coaching, and training of the Manufacturing Engineering team, as well as dotted line management and coaching of the launch team.

You will be accountable for project management of all aspects of M.E projects to support site development and launch, including planning the workload for specific major projects across production shutdown periods. Additionally, you will lead cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, on-cost product launches and prepare RFQs, contract reviews, and risk management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Direct line management, coaching, and training of Manufacturing Engineering team
  • Dotted line management and coaching of launch team
  • Accountability for project management of all aspects of M.E projects to support site development and launch
  • Planning the workload for specific major projects across production shutdown periods
  • Leading cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, on-cost product launches
  • Preparing RFQs, contract reviews, and risk management
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities
  • Liaising with outside contractors as required
  • Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed to a satisfactory standard and following up on any deficiencies
  • Successful coordination of running changes
  • Implementation and team adherence to IAC Project Management Systems
  • Managing plant interface in support of program targets
  • Maintaining IAC and personal credibility with the customer and balancing customer relationship and IAC profitability
  • Ensuring Launch Readiness Reviews are complete and updated as required
  • Supporting customer launch meetings
  • Ensuring Engineering and Launch KPIs are updated timely
  • Ownership of resolution to off-standards
  • Launch Readiness Documents – identifying and leading to resolution of key issues
  • Clearly identifying and following up issues requiring management intervention
  • Supporting management of launch process and launch reviews
  • Applying, executing, and maintaining function-related project milestones/timing plans
  • Ensuring continuity on current engineering and project deliverables
Requirements

We are looking for a time-served multi-skilled engineer, preferably certified to HND/degree level, with proven experience in engineering, preferably within a high-volume, automotive manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Knowledge of customer base, manufacturing processes and capabilities, company products, technology, and efficiency
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Experience working within a JIT/Lean manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of MES, DC tooling, EOL electrical test, and Vision systems is advantageous
