About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Microbiology Analyst to join our team at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our drinking water and protecting public health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse water quality samples using various techniques and instruments, adhering to relevant regulations and reporting results in a timely manner.
  • Provide support to the wider business on matters of sample analysis and reporting of results.
  • Understand the importance of the role in effective monitoring of water quality for the protection of public health.
  • Critically evaluate scientific data, review AQC data, and accurately report results onto LIMS within agreed timescales.
  • Basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance to ensure quality and efficiency of instrumentation.
  • Work within the framework of the Quality Policy, following strict guidelines covering technique, process, and reporting, to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 standards.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific subject.
  • Previous laboratory experience in a UKAS accredited environment, familiar with laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Good computing skills, ideally with experience of working with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Knowledge of Maldi-Tof and/or Flow Cytometry analysis is desirable.
